Historic Downtown Lakeland Walking Tours Fall 2010

Downtown Lakeland Partnership Presents

There will be a new set of walks coming up this fall.  The walks are sponsored by the Downtown Lakeland Partnership and Historic Lakeland Inc.  The walks are designed to give you the general history of Lakeland along with a little architectural information.  The walks begin at the Munn Park arch at Kentucky and Main at 9:30 am.

Oct 9, 2010

Tour 1              Walk through the Terrace, to the Lake Mirror Tower (dining room, roof and maybe an apartment), to All Saints Church to City Hall and back to the park

Tour 2              Clonts building 2nd floor, peek in first floor, Pine Street to 210, Marlon Lynn’s 2nd floor and 208 Pine Street Fred Koehler’s 2nd floor around the corner to the Tennessee Building renovation

Tour 1              Bryant Block building, 2nd floor, Children’s Museum, Art on the Park to the Adams Building

Tour 2              Clonts building 2nd floor, peek in first floor, Pine Street to 210, Marlon Lynn’s 2nd floor and 208 Pine Street Fred Koehler’s 2nd floor around the corner to the Tennessee Building renovation

The tours are led by John White, a professional architect and long-time resident of the South Lake Morton Historic District, who was a charter member and two-time president of Historic Lakeland, Inc. (HLI) and a former member of the City of Lakeland Historic Preservation Board.   Jim Malless, long-time resident of the South Lake Morton Historic District, former president of the Dixieland Historic District Neighborhood Association, two-time president of Historic Lakeland, Inc and a former member of the City of Lakeland Historic Preservation Board and Jim Studiale, Director of the City of Lakeland Community Development Department and former Historic Lakeland, Inc. board member.
