			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p></p><p>LAKELAND, FL &#8211; The Ninth Annual Lake Morton Historic Home &amp; Garden Tour presented by the <a href="http://www.lmna.org/" target="_blank">Lake Morton Neighborhood Association</a> (LMNA) will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2012 from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm.  The self-guided walking or trolley tour is open to the public and will feature homes and gardens in the South and East Lake Morton historic districts of Lakeland, Florida.</p>
<p>The Lakeland Historic Home Tour will begin at 11 am and is accessible by foot or trolley.  It will showcase examples of several different architectural styles such as the Federal Colonial Revival style, the English Arts and Crafts Tudor style, the Mediterranean Revival Style, and several Craftsman bungalows. Homeowners and greeters will be on hand at the tour homes to welcome participants and answer questions.</p>
<p>Visitors will begin at the <a href="http://polkmuseumofart.org" target="_blank">Polk Museum of Art</a> where they can purchase tour tickets. Ticket holders will also enjoy the opportunity to view the museum exhibits free of charge the day of the tour.</p>
<p>The <a href="http://www.lmna.org" target="_blank">Lake Morton Neighborhood</a> of Lakeland, Florida features one of the largest collections of bungalow architecture in the Southeast.</p>

Because several homes have porches with stairs, not all tour locations are handicap-accessible.</p>
<p>The tour will begin at 11 am and is accessible by foot or trolley. It will showcase examples of several different architectural styles such as the Federal Colonial Revival style, the English Arts and Crafts Tudor style, the Mediterranean Revival Style, and several Craftsman bungalows. Homeowners and greeters will be on hand at the tour homes to welcome participants and answer questions.</p>
<p>This event is made possible through the generosity of LMNA’s tour sponsors. LMNA also wishes to thank the gracious tour homeowners, LMNA’s supportive membership and the many volunteers who make this such an enjoyable Lakeland event.</p>

<p>Tour 2              Clonts building 2<sup>nd</sup> floor, peek in first floor, Pine Street to 210, Marlon Lynn’s 2<sup>nd</sup> floor and 208 Pine Street Fred Koehler’s 2<sup>nd</sup> floor around the corner to the Tennessee Building renovation</p>

<p>The tours are led by John White, a professional architect and long-time resident of the South Lake Morton Historic District, who was a charter member and two-time president of Historic Lakeland, Inc. (HLI) and a former member of the City of Lakeland Historic Preservation Board.   Jim Malless, long-time resident of the South Lake Morton Historic District, former president of the Dixieland Historic District Neighborhood Association, two-time president of Historic Lakeland, Inc and a former member of the City of Lakeland Historic Preservation Board and Jim Studiale, Director of the City of Lakeland Community Development Department and former Historic Lakeland, Inc. board member.</p>

</p><p>The 2010 Historic Lake Morton Home Tour near Downtown Lakeland was a huge success this past weekend with over 400 attendees.  The <a href="http://lmna.org" target="_blank">Lake Morton Neighborhood Association</a> (LMNA) did a wonderful job of organizing the event and the homes showcased on the tour were all gorgeous.  The weather was perfect and it was a joy to be out walking in the sunshine and viewing the various types of historic homes available in the Lake Morton Neighborhood.  This is one of the many reasons why the Lake Morton area is one of the best places to live in Lakeland, Florida.</p>

A trolley stop will be incorporated in downtown Lakeland allowing tour participants to enjoy the shops and restaurants before or after the tour.
